Tree Removal

It depends on three things: the size of the tree, what is underneath it, and how we can get to it. A 30-foot tree in an open field is straightforward; the same tree leaning over a garage with no rear-yard access is a rigging job that takes a full crew and most of a day. We do not quote by phone for that reason — we come out, look at the site, and give you a firm written price with no obligation.

On private property in the City of Buffalo you generally do not need a permit for a tree in your own yard, but street trees in the public right-of-way are city property and cannot be touched without approval. Rules differ across Amherst, Cheektowaga, Tonawanda and the surrounding towns, and some subdivisions add HOA restrictions on top. We check the requirement for your address as part of the estimate and will tell you plainly if a permit is needed.

Stump grinding is quoted separately, because plenty of customers want the stump left — for a seat, a planter, or simply to save money. If you do want it gone, having it ground during the same visit costs less than booking it later, and your estimate will show both prices so you can choose.

We plan around it. Plywood matting spreads the weight of equipment across turf, drop zones are chosen away from beds and irrigation, and where the ground is soft or access is tight we bring in a crane so sections never touch the lawn at all. Minor turf marking can happen on a large removal; we will tell you up front if it is likely rather than after the fact.

Brush is chipped and hauled, and logs go with us unless you want them. Many customers ask us to cut the trunk into firewood rounds and stack them — that costs nothing extra, it just has to be arranged before the crew arrives.
