Tree Health Assessment

A basic walk-and-look evaluation alongside a service estimate is free. A detailed diagnostic assessment with a written report — the kind you would want for a valuable mature tree, an insurance question or a property dispute — is a paid consultation, and we will quote it before booking. If you go on to have us carry out the recommended work, the consultation fee is credited against it.

Sometimes, and timing is everything. Ash trees with less than about 30% canopy loss can often be protected with trunk-injected insecticide on a repeating two-year cycle. Beyond roughly half the canopy gone, treatment rarely succeeds and removal becomes the safer decision — dead ash turns brittle quickly and is genuinely hazardous to take down later. EAB is established throughout Erie County, so any ash here needs a decision one way or the other.

For a large mature tree within falling distance of your house, yes — a check every few years is inexpensive insurance, and internal decay is invisible from the ground until it is well advanced. It is especially worth doing after major construction near the tree, after a severe storm, or if a similar tree nearby has recently failed.

We carry out the cultural and structural work — corrective pruning, deadwood removal, soil decompaction, mulching and root-zone management — and we coordinate licensed pesticide applications where a treatment genuinely calls for one. What we will not do is sell you a spray programme for a problem that better pruning and better soil would fix.

A single tree usually takes 30 to 60 minutes on site. A full property with many mature trees takes longer. Written reports follow within a few business days.
